Psychology: Science or not?

I'm studying in psychology, and I often hear that psychology "isn't a real science" or that it ain't scientific at all. Even my family (bunch of health sc specialists or future engineers) tells me that. I guess that's Freud's legacy. Thanks.

I was wondering, what's your point on that? Is psychology a "real science" or not? And why?
