Freemium or Subscriber Only

Hey everyone,

We've been discussing in the office about getting more people on the dedicated game servers.

The idea originally was that it would be subscriber only, having had feedback from a lot of you we understand this means you won't play because you don't want to commit to something which will be shut off in a month.

On the flip side, servers, management and moderating costs money. We aren't worried about making a profit on these but we would like to break even.

So we had an idea of introducing a freemium style model.

When we have advertisers on-board, we can look at you getting a weeks access for watching a video but in the intrim we were discussing using the credit system.
You would have to get 10 credits on the day you want to play then the moment you press "sync" you would get 24 hours access.

10 credits equates to 1 survey / a video / a couple of slide shows / a couple of discussions / comments etc.

You would keep the credits you earn which you can use for a subscription, pledging etc but you would also get access to Minecraft, Starbound, CSGO etc.

If you're already a pro subscrier then you wouldn't have this barrier and can play the games at your leisure - unrestricted.

What do you think about this?
Do you prefer this way forward?

It would mean you've got to spend 5-10 minutes of your time to get access to our community game servers for 24 hours.
In the future it would just mean you'd have to watch an advert.

I would love to hear your thoughts.
